Procedure (20 minutes)
Warmer and lead-in are significant activities that help create students' interest in learning English and introduce the topic respectively. I choose these activities to create a positive atmosphere for learning, check prior knowledge, and make them familiar with today's class subject matter. I will distribute a health problems picture dictionary to students to get to know about health problems.
I added MPFA (stages of teaching vocabulary) in the lesson plan because reading is impossible without understanding these stages. Firstly, it is important for students to comprehend the meaning of words, and the expression of the text. Reading skills help clarify the different words in the context, which impact students' learning a target language. Secondly, it is very crucial for students to recognize the words stress, sentence stress, and intonation. Thirdly, it is useful for learners to understand how that particular structure is formed, and the variations that come out due to changes of language-producing. I will provide opportunities to students for the fluency-focussed practice of the lexis. Fourthly, accuracy is also an essential stage that would elicit the learning of L2 students. Students will practice the health problems vocabulary matching worksheet with help of a word list. I will provide feedback.
There are some reasons to choose pre-reading activities. I want students to think carefully, and brainstorm ideas before reading a full story. It will increase students' capability to recognize the reading materials. I will provide students with the worksheet of missing letters in words. Students will write the missing letters in the boxes to complete the health problems vocabulary.
