Description

After the lesson, there are few objectives that the students are going to be able to achieve in an excellent way. -Firstly, students will be able think critically with the help of brainstorming activity and the video activity -Secondly, students will be enhancing their reading comprehension with the help of reading activity (Reading activity will be uploaded to the materials part later) -Thirdly, students will be able to express their ideas and expand their perspectives about gender equality with the help of writing activity

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide students with general writing practices in the context of SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) goal 5 which talks about sexual equality.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about sexual equality in the context of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (10-16 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T welcomes the Ss to the lesson -T shows the Ss few picture that discuss sexual equality in the world. -T starts talking about the sexual differences and how they should be equal. -T asks Ss questions related to sexual equality to generate their mands and lead them into the topic. -T gives Ss time to think and share their answers with their colleagues. -T allows peer discussion to hear students' opinions about the topic.

Exposure (14-16 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a video or situation

-T assign Ss in pairs for this task. -T gives Ss instructions about what are they expected to do. -T plays a video from YouTube that talks about sexual equality, the title of the video is "Gender Stereotype". -To make sure the students understand what the content of the video is, T replays it. -T asks Ss for their opinions and what did they understand from the video. -T gives time for Ss to negotiate with their pairs. -T lets Ss to answer the questions and discuss with their friends.

Controlled Practice (13-20 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

-T shows the pictures again to the Ss. -T highlights basic ideas about sexual equality and give related vocabulary (Discrimination, Feminism, Sexism) for the students. -T assign Ss with a reading passage. -T asks Ss to read quietly and individually. -After reading, T gives the instructions to the students and time to answer the questions. -T observes the Ss while solving the activities. -Ss give the T the answers individually. -T correct and highlight any mistakes if found. -T gives feedback to Ss about the activity.

Semi-Controlled Practice (15-20 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

-T starts the second task in the lesson. -T shows the Ss the writing paper -T gives instructions to Ss about the writing procedure -T asks CCQ to check if the Ss understand the task. -T asks the Ss to start writing -T observes the Ss while writing and helps the Ss if needed -T asks the students to stop writing and read what they wrote. -T gives more feedback for the Ss -T ends the second task.

Free Practice (13-18 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-T turn on the projector in the classroom -T start kahoot game -T gives instructions to Ss about playing Kahoot -T shows the Ss how to play the game -T starts the game and asks Ss to participate -T motivates the Ss to give correct answers all the time -T shows who got the 1st, 2nd ,3rd places. -T gives feedback for the Ss -T asks the Ss if they have any questions -T ends the lesson.

Flexi Stage (5-8 minutes) • To provide an additional speaking for fluency activity in case the class ends early

-T shows the Ss the picture again -T asks the Ss to generate their own questions -T asks the Ss to answer these questions depending on their background
