Procedure (42-55 minutes)
Project the Simpsons family picture. Ask students if they know this family. Draw a line from the family member and connect the vocabulary on the board.
Project blank family tree on board. Ask students to raise their hand and come up to the board and fill in the names of the family members. Teacher must fill in leftover blank spaces if students do not know some vocab. Teacher will circle pairs of family members and label them: parents, grandparents, children, cousins..)
Erase the family tree and point to random family members to recall vocab as a whole class activity.
PowerPoint presentation on vocabulary with pronunciation repetition
Simpsons Photo again. Write the model statements on the board "Marge has got two daughters, Bart has got one sister, Homer has got three children". Workbook page 16 photocopied worksheet handout. Introduce the family tree, and Students must use the family tree to answer the questions. Teacher will answer first two questions with students.
Stick "Male, female, and both" labels on the walls. Divide the class into 4 groups of 4. Give them the vocabulary cards and ask them to place each family member under the labels.
Give questions cards to students, have students walk around to each other and ask each other which family member they are.
