Procedure (41-52 minutes)
Bring up the context of news Share screen with Google Jamboard. Ask Ss what shocking news they have recieved lately. Model by sharing news about a friend who is engaged. Have Ss share shocking news
Share my screen (with sound) to show Ss the Google Slides with the audio track Explain that they are about to hear a conversation between Judy and Martin, and ask them to pay attention to what the conversation is about Play audio track for them Ask if Martin and Judy are shocked about certain news, and how they know that
Give Ss link to Google Slides with the fill-in-blanks activity, and model for them Play audio track again, asking Ss to look out for these phrases Give Ss time to complete the activity Check answers with them Ask Ss if there are any questions about the phrases before moving on
Share my screen with the Google Slides with the Useful Language Model phrases for Ss and elicit emphasis and intonation from them before showing it Drill Ss (choral and individual) on each phrase
Share screen with Google Forms, and give Ss the link Model activity for Ss, make sre to emphasize that there are two correct answers and one wrong one, and that they must choose the wrong one Give Ss time to complete the activity Send Ss to BoR to compare answers in pairs Check answers as a group
