Procedure (36-43 minutes)
Because the lesson time is the last hour of teaching, students need to relax for awhile. So, I have chosen a song named ''used to by Daughtry'' which lasts five minutes. On the other hand it serves the main aim of the lesson. Before playing it, I will say ''I'm mad about this song''
Students are given a handout, in which there are sentences from the song. The students will fill the gaps at the top of the page. There are similar forms to the target language and students usually confuse them. So, The teacher will also teach them the differences of ''used to,'' ''be used to,'' ''get used to,'' Although ''used to +infinitive'' and would'infinitive can be used similar to each other, there is a restriction related to stative verbs. The students are going to be warned about this.
The handouts are distributed to students. Before giving the handouts the teacher tells them how to do the exercise. The exercise is in the past simple tense and students are asked to replace them by either used to +infinitive or would infinitive. Two of the sentences can be replaced by only used to +infinitive. Three of the sentences in the reading text cannot be replaced by either used to+infinitive or would+ infinitive
The students are given a text in which they have to correct six mistakes. After the students have finished the task, they will be asked to check with their friends and then they will tell reasons.
A question is written on the board: '' What did you use to do in your childhood?'' The students are instructed to work in pairs to share their childhood memories. Then, the teacher asks them to share the interesting ones with the whole class.
Students are going to listen the song by Daughtry with lyrics again. This stage helps students relax and have some fun. On the other hand the song serves the main aim of the lesson. after the song they are free to go.
