Procedure (45 minutes)
-Display questions about keeping fit. -Verify that students understand the term "keep fit" by giving an example for the first question. -Students work in assigned pairs in BreakOut Rooms to discuss questions about keeping fit and popular ways to keep fit in their country.
-Teacher displays new lexis Examples: Terrific CCQ: Does this describe something good or something bad? (Very good) Pronunciation - /təˈrifik/ Form - adjective Enthusiast CCQ: Is a car enthusiast very interested in cars? Do they think the subject of cars is boring? (Very interested, subject is exciting) Pronunciation - /ɪnˈθuː.zi.æst/ Form - Noun
Display 3 pictures for students to match to the text. Have students read for 3 minutes through the 3 paragraphs of text quickly for a general understanding. and Pick a picture for each. ICQ: Are we reading for detail or the main idea? (Main idea) Students read individually and check answers through private chat with their partner. OCFB
Display 6 sentences for students to determine if they are true or false. Teacher shares the Text file with students so they can read the text again while the questions stay displayed. Students will check answers in pairs through private messages before OCF
Using breakout Rooms for 3 minutes - have students discuss questions in pairs. Would you like to try these ways of keeping fit? Why? Do you know of any other unusual ways of keeping fit? OCFB
Teacher writes samples of correct and incorrect language use monitored during the class and uses questions to elicit corrections from the students.
