In this lesson students will learn about the differences between male and females brains. They will practice reading for general undersanding as well as reading for detailed understanding. Students will also practice their speaking skills

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about male and female brains in the context of differences between the two

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of differences between men and women.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Lead-in Ask Ss to discuss the following questions in groups before sharing their opinions with the rest of the class. What are some differences between men and women? (Answer: Personal) Can you name a job that is more typical of men? What about women? (Answer: Personal)

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Work on meaning of adept, spatial, womb, tackle Google Slide: nominate Ss to match words to photos and definitions, using arrows. adept /əˈdept/ CCQ: If you are adept at something.
