Description

In this lesson, students learn and get to practise using "have/has got" in the positive , negative and question form to describe personal possessions. They will work in pairs to talk about what they have got and and then tell what has his/her peer got. This is followed by a listening activity in which students fill in the gaps and further practise on the use of the target language

Main Aims

  • By the end of this lesson , ss will be able to:
  • use have /has got in the affirmative , negative and question form correctly by understanding its meaning , form , pronunciation and usage.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To do a listening activity to practise the target language.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Make up a funny situation in which i can't find my marker then takes it out from my bag saying :here it is." then ask ss "Would you like to see what's inside my bag?".I take one thing saying :I've got a pen ,a mobile phone ,keys, etc each in seperate .Then go to modelling stage.

Language Analysis (4-6 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

I've got a new car .Modelling .Ss drill i point to a student saying that(2) he's got a pen .Modelling . Ss drill. then I write down the two sentences on the board. look at the sentence (1):Is it your car or my car ?it's my car ,right.So i own this car . "It's mine. sentence (2) Is it Ahmed's pen or my pen? Ahmed's .Right. So "have and has got refer to things which we own, we possess.I'll use gestures to make it clear. I draw two faces ;one is sad and the other is happy . Put a pic beside the happy face . Ask ss why is she happy ? Has she got a laptop? -Yes,she's got a laptop. Why is the other sad? -Has she got a laptop?- No .Correct. No,she hasn't got a laptop. Modelling the question and negative form. Drill. Write down questions and negative answers .

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

Now it's your turn .Show me what you have got in your bags and pockets. Ss start saying sentences using "I've got.......". Are you going to talk about your self only ?Yes. Encourage ss to tell their sentence?

Task (4-6 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Now you are going to look at pictures and write down only one sentence about your self starting with I've got......... .before doing this activity I show them the pics making sure they know their names by asking "what's this?. now "are you going to write about you or your mate ?-Me Are you going to write 2 sentences? -No. only one. Good. Are you going to use 'I've got or he's got?- I've got . Perfect. Start. Now tell your peer your sentence. Now change papers and write what he or she has got starting with she/he has got........ I pick up a paper asking whose paper is it?-Dadawy's. Good He's written I've got ....... .You take his paper and write :he's got a ....... .Right. Now "are you going to write about you or your mate ?-My mate Are you going to use 'I've got or he has got?- he/she has got. Perfect. Start.

Task (4-6 minutes) • practise questions and answers.

Swap pics. Get a student to take a pic. from me and go round the ss asking "Have you got a computer? If it was a yes answer, the student sits down .If it was a no answer , the student continues looking for the picture. Encourage ss to say a correct complete answer.

Task (4-6 minutes) • To allow students to listen to the conversation and fill in the gaps.

Now you are going to listen to a conversation at pay phone.Listen and fill in the gaps. Are you going to listen only and do nothing?No Are you going to write something ?Yes.. good Play the record. I check answers. Now complete the gaps in Ex. 1&2 check answer in pairs.

Language free Practice (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

I 'll show them a room in which many things provided . They are going to work in groups to make a dialogue between them and Sarah asking her about what she has and hasn't got. Are you going to work a lone? No .In groups. Are you going to write sentences ?No. Are you going to write questions and answers? Yes. Who are you talking to?Sarah. Good Start
