Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and review of greetings and introductions.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy, together with confidence, of vocabulary and pronunciation of greetings and introductions

Procedure

Warm-up / Lead=in (5-8 minutes) • Engaging Tatiane in initial greetings

Discussing alternative forms of greetings, depending on settings, both formal and informal. Going through TDJ Greetings by Occasion worksheet.

Test #1 (15-20 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language through listening, reading and speaking of introductions

Student Book, Pg 6 Listen to Audio 1.1 - Read Complete 2a - listen to Audio 1.2

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Introduce "Contractive language" Student Book : Pg 7 Then Audio 1 3 listening

Test #2 (10-15 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Student's Book: Complete Q5 then listen Audio 1.5 Workbook : Complete Pg 4, Q1 and 2 Check Pronunciation : Tracy to verbalise Q3

Test #3 (15-20 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language re. family members

Check spelling, pronunciation and understanding of vocabulary for Family Relationships
