We will listen to half of a recording about Hoaxes I will then ask them to answer the gist questions: The guest wants to remain anonymous because... Police pay him to... He says the bike photo might be.. After that they will listen to the rest of the recording they will be listening for reported speech. As they are listening I will show them a jamboard with sentences in half and they have to be aware of them, after I will send them to breakout rooms and have them match the halves in groups, Then they will be able to discuss what vocabulary they heard in the recording.
Afterwards in the main session, I will explain the next task to the students, They will have 10 sentences where they have to match the direct speech with the reported speech, and then put what tense is being used for each one. After they have done that in breakout rooms I will bring them back to the main session where we will discuss the form, stress and pronunciation of 3 sentences.
This will be a very fun activity, where i will send them again into breakout rooms, but this time they have 15 movie scenes with famous expressions and sayings, and they will have to take turns changing them into reported speech. Here they will practice, ask, tell and say. I think it will be an interesting activity for them, and it will also be a very fun one because there are many different characters , and they appeal to all kinds of students.
During the last part of our class, we will practice the lexis we have learned. I will send them to breakout rooms and there they play "what did they say?" These people will be on the screen and the students have to make up what they could have said using the reported speech A policeman A teacher A friend A parent A sibling A salesmen A doctor A superhero A villain A thief An author A painter A child A Pilot A bartender A waiter A president A Spouse
I will be making notes during the class and correct them globally and now just on one student and on one form.
