Description

In this lesson, students are expected to learn about numbers, their pronunciation and spelling.

Materials

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (10-12 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T greets students and introduces herself then ask about their names and tell them to say 3 things they'd like us to know about them. - Favorite color - Favorite singer - Pets T will hand them color sheets for them to write their names.

Exposure (10-12 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T asks students "how many fingers do we have in one hand?" Then asks "what if I lose one of my fingers?" And so on then T will ask students to do the same thing with a partner.

Highlighting (5-8 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T will open jamboard and present the topic to the class. Later, T asks how many markers she is holding, how many notebooks, how many chairs are in the classroom, tables, whiteboards etc then T tell students to ask her back.

Clarification (15-18 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T will open jamboard and explain matching activity then Ss will follow instructions and arrange the postits on Jamboard. Then T will ask them to use their fingers to represent the number that the T will be telling them. T will go on to the next slide and introduce the alphabet then T will write words for kids to spell them then they will do the same in pairs

Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Ss will fill in the blanks using letters from the alphabet then they will count how many letters are in each of them

Semi-Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Ask students to tell stuff from the classroom, draw them and spell their name

Free Practice (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T will play a game with Ss to reinforce understanding, then before they go, Ss will spell their name (Ticket-out)
