Description

In this lesson, the SS will practice listening and answering some questions about what they listened to (a talk and a conversation) . The SS will improve some subskills of listening such as listening for gist and listening for scanning . The period will start with a discussion between me and the SS about the technology of means of transportation . Dealing with new electric cars and planes without pilots , I'll mention remote - control ships or ships without crew .

Main Aims

To provide gist listening practice using a text about Remote - control Ships
To provide specific information listening practice using a text about Ships with No Crew on Board

Subsidiary Aims

To provide the SS with a listening question of two parts to improve their listening and understanding .

Procedure (31-39 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I'll start the lead-in with asking the students about the new technology of transportation . They may mention the electric cars that will save the money and the environment from pollution. Also , the planes without pilots that can be used in the army of anycountry.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

To prepare the students for listening , they will guess what the conversation and the talk are about from the lead-in. Also , I'll ask them clearly to read the questions before listening to the audio .

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

During listening , the SS will concentrate on the particular information that is needed to complete each space of the talk and the conversation. If they missed any answer , they can get it from the second time of playing .

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

After listening to the audio twice , they will start answering me . I will see what they have learned and if they could collect any new information or not .
