Description

In this lesson students will learn different jobs,along with future form (be going to) to talk about their plans.

Materials

Abc Pictures

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and review of jobs in the context of dreams

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of future tense in the context of future plans

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher will show the students some photos of different jobs highlighting their pronunciation.Then the teacher will have the students repeat the jobs as he shows the pictures.Once the teacher is sure the students have got the correct pronunciation,he/she will have the students match the pictures with it written form.

Exposure (5-6 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

The teacher will draw a stick figure on the board and name it after one of the students in the class.Then the teacher will draw a dream bubble on the student's stick figure.Then the teacher will put one of the job photos on in the bubble and will present the target structure saying:"Alex is going to be a doctor".Concept check questions will follow to make sure the students have got the meaning.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Using the finger technique the teacher will emphasize the form one more time to make sure the students have got the form completely.

Controlled Practice (5-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

To get the students familiar with structure,the teacher will put a substitution drill on the board changing the jobs and subjects to make sure students can use the structure in different contexts.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Depending on the size of the class the students will be divided into groups of three or four and will be prompted to ask each other their future jobs.Then to give feed back students will be asked to report their group mate's answers.
