Procedure (37-46 minutes)
Give the folded handouts to Ss, show the pictures and ask what they remember about them.
Tell the Ss that they will listen to the recording. Play the recording once (twice if needed) (Audio file 21). Ask them to check with a partner for about a minute. Reflect the activity and write the answers. Pronounce "engineer" /en-jə-ˈnir/, "new" /njuː/, and " zealand" /ˈziːlənd/
Show the first sentence to the Ss and tell them that "What does he/she do?" means "What's his job?" and the first one is more common. Underline the "does" and "doesn't" words on the board and tell the Ss that they will listen to the audio again. But warn them to pay attention on pronunciation. Play the audio again. (Audio file 21) Ask them if they realised the difference. Write the phonetic symbols for 2 different pronunciation and backchain.
Ask the Ss to do the first part of "Grammar and Pronunciation" part and check with a partner.
Ask Ss to listen to the recording and then repeat (Audio File 22)
Instruct the Ss that for this activity they need to stand up, walk around and find their matches. When they find their matches they should sit one next to another. Ask them to read the questions and answers.
Tell Ss to do the activity. After 2 minutes instruct them to check in pairs. Play audio file 23 and tell Ss to listen. Monitor the Ss and write the answers on the board if needed.
Ask Ss to do the activity. Observe them for about 2 minutes and keep the weak and strong ones in your mind. Create nicknames for Ss (super, great, fantastic, awesome, incredible, amazing, impressive) Match the strong ones to the weak ones and ask them to find their partner. Mention the difference between question 1 and 4. Write the answers if needed.
Tell Ss that you will handout celebrity cards and warn them not to look at another s's card. Handout the cards. Ask them to discover the secret IDs. Listen to them and if there are "errors" note them down and ask them if it's correct or not
Give Ss the copies.
