To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of comparing learners' city with the city they want to visit.

Procedure (40-46 minutes)
I will show pictures that represent Thailand in Google Slides ,and I will ask students to guess the name of the country Thailand. I will give them a hint if they find it difficult to answer. Then, I will ask them: What do you know about Thailand?
I will present a text which is about Two places in Thailand (Phuket and Bangkok) in Google Slides ,and I will ask them to read the text quickly ignoring unknown vocabulary and decide which place they would choose for a holiday and why? They will be given 2-3 mins to read and decide. Then, they will be sent to BORs to discuss their answers in pairs for 2-3 mins. I will conduct open class feedback.
To highlight the target language, I will ask them to read sentences comparing Phuket and Bangkok and find which sentence is true and which sentence is false (correcting the false one) In Google Form based on the text they have read. Answers: 1. (True) 2. (True) 3. The holiday in Phuket is more expensive than Bangkok. (False ) 4.(True) They will be given 2-4 mins. I will conduct OCFB.
I will take the following sentences as my marker sentences from the previous task: The kata Hotel is smaller than the Sawadee Hotel. Bangkok is more crowded than Phuket. The holiday in Phuket is more expensive than Bangkok. Regarding meaning, I will ask students the following CCQs: The kata Hotel is smaller than the Sawadee Hotel. Is he talking about 2 or 3 places? 2 Which one is large? The Sawadee Hotel Which one is small? The Kata Hotel Bangkok is more crowded than Phuket. Is he talking about 2 or 3 places? 2 Which place has too many people? Bangkok Which place has few people? Phuket The holiday in Phuket is more expensive than Bangkok. Is he talking about 2 or 3 places? 2 Which one cost less money? Bangkok Which place cost a lot of money? Phuket form I will ask students to complete the rule of comparatives in Google Slides. I will do the first one as an example. Students will do it individually and I will present their answers and give OCFB. Answers: -er -er i -er more than Pronunciation I will model the sentences and ask students to draw dots on the stressed words in Google Slides. I will elicit that the word than is pronounced in its weak form pointing out the schwa.
I will present the following question in Google Slides as a controlled practice. Students will do the task individually for 4 mins. They will be given 2-3 mins to discuss their answers in pairs in BORs. ICQ: individually or in groups? individually ICQ: How much time do you have? 4 mins Choose one of the adjectives in brackets. Then fill in the gaps with its comparative form and than. Answers: 1. busier than 2. bigger than 3. more friendly than 4. warmer than 5. better than I will conduct OCFB.
I will present the following questions in Google Slides. I will give them 3-4 mins to think and then I will send them in BORs to discuss their ideas in small groups for 6 mins. Choose a city you would like to visit and compare it with your city. Share your ideas with your groups in BORs. I will show them examples to make sure they understand the task. OCFB: I will ask students what their partners share about their city and the city they would like to visit. DEC: I will present some examples of good use of language in WB. I will focus on the use comparative adjectives including MFP
