In this lesson, students learn about the past simple through the context of taking about their childhood memories.
Materials

Subsidiary Aims

students will improve their writing skill by writing about their childhood memories.
Procedure (47-60 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
Providing a picture of myself in the past. Elicit their expectations. Let them talk about a memory they had.
Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language
Ask the students which tense we use to talk about previous action. Ask about the form of the past simple tense.
Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage
Apply a sheet includes the form of the tense and number of examples. give the students number of written sentences in the past.
Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test
Ask some of the students to compare between the mistakes they did with form and now. clarify the mistakes in forming sentences on the board with colours.
Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language
students write about their childhood memories using the past simple tense.
