To provide clarification of Prepositions and Collocations in the context of Foods Around the World
Procedure (37-47 minutes)
Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
Talk to students about their favorite foods, regional cooking, and places to eat
Pre-teach Vocabulary (8-10 minutes) • To get rid of blocking, difficult vocabulary in the text and make it accessible
Show students pictures of foods and have them tell me what they could be
While-Reading #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks
Hand out a short article, no more than three paragraphs, that they will read quickly for general understanding
While-Reading #2 - Detailed Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging, detailed reading tasks
