Procedure (45-55 minutes)
Play the scene with out sound..Review the scene where Katherine's son comes into the restaurant. What do they remember that happens in the scene.
If you needed help within something would ask someone to help. Do you think that it is a bother to ask people to help you? I you do something for someone and it is not a problem for you what do you say? Give an example
Ss listen to the video two times? Give them the questions below to listen with purpose. What does Mr. Brashov suggest to Jess about the security system in his home? What do the kids do when the come into the store? What does Kevin say to Katherine before he leaves? Ss share in whole class the answers.
Ss will search for vocab in the text. Ss will be give a definition and they must listen for the word or phrase that means it. They will be given the definition in the chat. I will Model the exercise with "Excuse me" - A phrase used to call someone or get someone's attention, like aa waiter.. I will do that with the following I don't want to impose, to skip, I'm afraid so, old lady, on the house, what's the big deal, I will put them in the chat one at a time., in order they occur in the video. When they get the answer I will also out that in the chat. At the end, I will have all the answers on our web page. WCD I don't want to impose - A phrase that means: I don't want to bother someone. skip -A word that means: to not do something I'm afraid so - A phrase that means: yes, but you feel bad about it old lady - A way to refer to your mother (not that nice) on the house - A phrase that means: free from a restaurant what's the big deal? - A question that means: What's the problem? They then will create a conversation with a partner using three of the phrases.
