Description

In this lesson, students will be introduced to different types of stories. By the end of the lesson, learners will be familiar with all fictional stories and will know how to differentiate between them.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification stories' types and how to describe the stories using adjectives like (Complicated, unrealistic, slow, a happy ending, cry, scary, imaginative, moral. in the context of An amazing story

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide learners with the vocabulary which will help them in discussing their favorite stories fluently and accurately.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- I will greet my students and ask them about their weekend. 2- I will start to tell them about my favourite myth story of how earth and sky were made in the ancient Egyptian history. 3- I will display different types of stories and ask students to determine individually their best type, give examples. 4- Disuss in pairs, then I will ask any of them to tell be about their partner.

Test #1 (7-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

1- I will ask students to read the sentences in ex (2) and focus on the bold words. 2- I will ask them to decide which is negative and which is positive. 3- I will ask them some ICQs: a) how many sentences will you answer? (10) b) will you write negative/ positive or only( (N/P)? c) are you answering in pairs or alone? ( alone) 4- Students will check the answers in pairs. 5- I will provide them with the answer key.

Teach (7-10 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

1- I will try to get the marker sentence from the exercise, they already have answered. 2- I will try to elicit the terms and the adjective, which they are going to use in the next exercise. 3- I will model and drill, then write following the ECDW technique. 4- I will highlight the phonological features( if found ) on the whiteboard. 5- I will use CCQs to check their understanding in ( slow) ex: are the events slow? or the characters walk slowly? ( the events)

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

1- After the clarification stage, I hand students the exercise in p.75. 2- I will ask students to answer individually, after that check the answers in pairs. 3- I will provide them with the answer key.

Free practice (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

1- I will show them picture of different movies and I will ask them to imagine if they were a critic. 2- Tell me about those movies, what are the types of them? 3- Describe the plot using the useful language we have already clarified. 4- You have the right also to write about any movie.
