Procedure (34-47 minutes)
Elicit previous knowledge from Ss by asking them if they have ever heard the expression “Make money!”. Explain to Ss that some words in English have to go together “naturally for native speakers” to express certain ideas that may not have meaning in Spanish. Those ideas are called collocations. Have Ss watch the video Collocation an introduction.

Fill in the blanks exercise that includes controlled practice for meaning, synonym, and antonyms.

Pay attention to the item and notice its features with oral practice to: Notice the words that go together. Generating related words (Make: Money, fortune, profit, loss, much, any) Drilling variations in chunks. (Make: Money, fortune, profit, loss) Conscious memorisation of collocations. Being encouraged to correct and reformulate the spoken and written outcome in such a way that students become more aware of the language.
Creating their own examples for freer practice, Ss write their own sentences using chunks of language Make + collocations.
