Description

In this lesson students will learn how to write a paragraph on a party by using the past simple tense. They will speak,read ,listen and write . All the four skills are integrated .

Abc pictures of activities to present some blocking vocabulary

Main Aims

  • To provide process writing practice of a paragraph in the context of a party

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of the past simple tense in the context of reporting past events
  • Design a report about a school party on padlet.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I show students a picture ask them these questions giving them time they need to think and answer What can you see ? Where can you see all these things ? Did you attend a party ? When was that ? Did you enjoy it ? Why ?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

The teacher gives students a paragraph and ask them to read to answer questions about it.Students go to break out rooms to read and answer questions . students give feedback when they share the answers on the main room .

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I ask students to go to break to discuss these questions on the main room 1- Does the paragraph begin with a capital letter? 2-How does each sentence begin ? 3- How does each sentence end ? 4- which tense is used? Why ? 5-How does the paragraph end ? 7-How does names of people begin? giving them feedback

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

I ask students to fill in the a table on google docs to brain storm their ideas about a party . students go in break out rooms and work in groups . each group write the paragraph on google docs collaboratively by using ideas in the table. the teacher monitors and checks that every group is on the track . .

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

students work in two break out rooms students of group1 read the paragraph of group 2 they use a different pen to give feedback, while students of group 2 read the paragraph of group 1 they use a different colour to give feedback. after they finish they share ideas .and feedback. the teacher gives support and feedback for both groups. I then ask every group to write the final production .
