Procedure (38-52 minutes)
I will set the context and activate the students' interest in the topic by showing a pic of a famous Egyptian food which is koshari. I will ask them to give me examples of other Egyptian food in pairs. Then we will ask them about their pairs' opinion.
I will ask the students to to do the quiz about the American culture. I will instruct them to read the sentence first. Then, they will complete the space with the right adjective and noun after matching them together. I will model number 2 with them as number one is already answered. After that, I will ask them to check their answer in pairs, Then I will show them the answer on the board.
I will clarify the target vocabulary by eliciting them using pics form PowerPoint presentation. 1- the White House /ðə waɪt haʊs/ 2- New York /njuː jɔ:rk/ 3- American Airlines /əˈmerɪkən ˈeəlaɪnz/ 4- fast food /fɑːst fuːd/ 5- Pretty Woman ˈ/prɪtɪ ˈwʊmən/ 6- blue jeans /bluː ʤiːnz/ I will ask them ccqs if it is necessary. I will drill these vocabularies chorally, in groups and individually. Then, I will show them the vocab on the board. CCQ: 1- Do we mean an apple? 2- Do we mean a city? 3- Is it another name for New York?
I will write the phrase " a good women" on the board to elicit the grammatical order. Then I'll instruct them to answer exercise 3a. I will give them handout number two. I will check if they follow my instructions. They will answer it alone, I will check it with the students and show them the answer on the board. I will instruct students to answer exercise b in page number 127. I will give them the handout. Then, I will check my instructions.
I will set the listening task and demo with the students. I will show them the answer on the projector after asking them to check in pairs. I will ask the students to make phrases from classroom and tell each other.
