• To introduce and give Ss controlled and freer practice in predicative adjectives in the context of family.

To give Ss practice in speaking for fluency
Procedure (30-44 minutes)
The students are going to play hangman to guess the words "family tree''. Check students if they have already tried this game. Give instructions of the game. After playing check what the phrases mean.
Put pictures describing adjectives on the wall. Give the students the adjectives in ex 1 p. 8 to match with the picture. Check them. Then give the students vocabulary ex 1-Ss work in pairs/small groups to match with definitions. Check them on answer key. Be prepared to deal with any questionsabout meaning-have examples ready to illustrate. Drill the pronounciationof a few of these. 1. alive a) not awake 2. awake b) similar 3. asleep c) not dead 4. ill d) frightened 5. alone e) not sleeping 6. afraid f) not with other people 7. glad g) not healthy 8. aware h) happy and please 9. alike i) knowing about situation or fact
Give students ex 2-they work in pairs/small groups and decide which sentence is better. Do FB. Focus Ss on position of predicative adjectives. Contrast with other adjectives-using examples on the w/b elicit adjective position from the Ss
