Main Aims

To review and extend Ss’ awareness of present tenses and related time expressions , and to give controlled and freer practice in them, in the context of family and family history.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To give Ss’ practice in speaking for fluency
Procedure
• T asks Ss’ to write 3 sentences related to the use of each present tense which they have been taught in the previous lesson as following: *Write a sentence on the following -A fact about your family. -what you are doing now? -something that happened to one of your family members in the past but continuous now. • Monitoring • Feedback ( T writes some of students’ answers on the board)
• T asks Ss’ as groups of 4 to back to Ex1 in their hand out and try to identify which tense from it goes with each set of time expressions in Ex3 through a matching process • Monitoring • T collects the right answers from the whole groups and writes it on the board as a feedback
• T demoes the activity in front of Ss through using one time expression from each set of time expressions mentioned in the previous activity to write a sentence about his/ her family • T asks Ss as individuals to do the activity the same way he did. • Monitoring and help when needed + checking for Ss accuracy • Ss compare their sentences with peers • Feedback discussing common problems of accuracy
• T asks Ss two questions about the passage -where is the person originally from? -what does he do now? • Ss read and answer the questions • T collects the answers as a feedback • T asks Ss to work in groups to fill in the gaps using the suitable verb forms • T sticks on the board an answer key paper for the activity to let Ss check their answers • Feedback T answers any question related to the activity
• T asks students to choose 4 questions they would be comfortable answering about their families and mark each with an (x) • In pairs Ss interview each others by exchanging each other questions asking and answering in turns • Monitoring • Feedback T asks some students to report what their partners said about their families
