Procedure (27-36 minutes)
I will ask Ss to comment on two pictures about a tourist that is lost and that ask a local to help him/her find his/her way. They will discuss the answer in breakout rooms.
They will read a short text about tourists asking a passerby to take a photo of them then and ask information about the Zoo. T will show two images: one of tourists taking a selfie and one of a person taking a photo of two tourist. They will say which image best illustrate the text. Then, Ss will list all the polite questions the tourist asked the passerby. Ss will identify the phrases that introduce the enquiry.
MEANING: Ss will answer the following question: Are the sentences for , image a: to enquire something of somebody, or image b: to give an order. APPROPRIACY: Which sentences are more polite? Compare regular questions with polite enquiry exercise. CCQs Are these sentences formal? Informal? Neutral? Can we use them with friends or family? With a receptionist at a hotel? With a stranger? FORM: T will ask Ss to match sentences with the correct forms in pairs. Breakout room, 3 mins PRONUNCIATION I will ask Ss where the linking, and intonations are. Then I will drill each sentence and ask Ss to repeat. see TLAS and materials.

I will show Ss 3 images: one of a group of Ss in a classroom, another with a lost tourist and the last one with friends at a restaurant. Ss will role-play each of these scenarios with the help of slides that include ideas of enquiry and somme lexis.
I will write some error Ss said while practicing the TL, and ask them to choose between the wrong and correct answers. I have some pre-made corrections in case I fail to hear some error or mark them.
