To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of physical characteristics such as height, age, and overall appearance
Procedure (40-53 minutes)
The learners will take a look at the pictures of the first slide and describe the appearance of the girl in her four outfits using the works from the table below. The students will go into breakout rooms to compare their answers and proceed with OCFB
The students will listen to a recording of a fashion expert talking about the girl's outfits, The students have to listen closely and identify the words she used to describe the outfit. The teacher can play the recording again if necessary. At the end, the teacher will show the right answers in the next slide and students will compare their answers from the previous exercise.
The teacher will use a table separated in three rows: adjective, comparative and superlative. Teacher will elicit the answers for the rest of the adjectives by explaining the grammar rules I will explain meaning by making concept questions CCQ: Does prettier mean that she is more attractive? [Yes] Could you play basketball in the NBA if you were short - [No] Would you look elegant dressed with Chanel clothes or with normal clothes? [with Chanel clothes] Is Carlos an excellent teacher? [Yes]
Students will look at the questions and complete the blanks using comparative or superlative. Teacher will demonstrate an example. After finishing the teacher will elicit some answers to complete on the slide as an OCFB
Students will listen to a different recording about physical comparisons between family members. Students will have to identify the comparatives and superlatives in it. After identifying them, the teacher will show some questions about the topic to discuss in breakout rooms. After that the teacher will elicit some answers during an OCFB. At the end, the teacher will conduct the DEC.
