Main Aims

• For students to practice listening for gist and for details in the context of "Me and my parents".
Subsidiary Aims

• By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to speak about their parents and their family life in the context of “Me and my family".
Procedure (34-45 minutes)
-T greets Ss and shows Ss two pictures about two different families. -Ss are given two minutes to discuss the picture by asking some CCQs like: What can you see here? Are they happy or sad? Why? Which one is for present or for past? What do you think how old the children are now? - T elicits from the answers that Ss have an idea about the topic "Me and my parents".
-T shows 7 different words and phrases related to the listening task. -T shows Ss some pictures to help Ss understand the words and phrases. -T elicits from the students the meanings of the 7 vocabulary items. -T asks CCQ’s on the different vocabulary items. - T asks Ss to repeat the words to know the right pronunciation.
-T asks Ss to listen to four different situations about the topic. -T asks Ss to answer question 8 at SB p. 93. It's about Who had a good relationship? Who didn't? Why? -Ss listen to the audio and then, answer the questions alone. - Ss discuss their answers in pairs. - T shows Ss the answers after they finish.
-T asks Ss to listen again to the audio "one by one" to take notes to help them answer the questions at SB p.93 Ex.9 alone for each situation. -Ss check the answers with their partners in BORs. -T checks the answers and gives them feedback.
T asks Ss to think of the question 10 at p.93 as it is about speaking about your parents your family life, present and past. T asks Ss to discuss the answers in pairs. Ss check the answers with their partners in BORs. T chooses some Ss to speak about the task. T gives Ss their feedback.
