Description

In this lesson students are supposed to move gradually from a receptive skill into a productive one, although the receptive skill is still the main aim. during the lesson students are supposed to speak in the context of " Going out" and as a final task they will be asked to write about the same topic.

Main Aims

  • To provide scan reading practice using a text about Going out in the context of phone number, address, opening time

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide process writing practice of a emails in the context of outings

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will provide pictures of different words related to the topic ( pasta, jazz, rock) and ask SS what they see, and elicit answers.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T will then ask SS to have a look at the exercises in p.70 and elicit answers.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

.T will ask SS to read ( Gist Reading/Skimming) and do (Ex 1,p.70) where they read the text and fill the table. SS will skim the text while reading and answer individually. After they finish, T will ask them to check their answers in pairs. T will then provide feedback

While-Reading/Listening #2 (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T will ask SS to read again (Detailed Reading) and answer the questions (Ex1.b p.70) Ss will read for a second time to understand. T will ask SS to check their answers in pairs. Then give feedback

Post-Reading/Listening (10-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T will ask SS which restaurant they would like to go to and why T will ask SS to work in groups of 3 and discuss these questions After they finish, T will ask SS about their partners.
