Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of beach,island,mountain range,valley in the context of geographical features
  • To provide clarification, review and practice of using countable and uncountable quantifiers in the context of geographical features and nature

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy in the context of geographical features and nature and using quantifiers

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Asking students to describe one of the greatest place they have ever visited by using simple present accurately .

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Talking about the pictures and then skimming the text to find out the general idea of the reading passage . Then we are going to scan the passage and focus on the use of new lexical resource and grammar .(geographical features and quantifiers )

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I am going to ask students to share their ideas about the text in pairs trying to use topic related vocabulary used in the text .

Clarification (10-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Checking the new words by teacher and the form of the words and also the pronunciation of the new words . I am going to ask students to share the ideas about the grammar (quantifiers) and then I want them to check some sentences and provide the with some questions about the grammar then I will teach the grammar

Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I will ask the students to find any sentence used in the reading passage including quantifiers .

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

I will ask the students to complete the exercises of the book in pairs .

Free Practice (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will students to think of the greatest spot they have ever visited ( as I did as a warm up ) by using the new lexical resource and the new grammar provided in the new lesson .
