Procedure (36-44 minutes)
-T welcomes the student into the class. -T opens the PP presentation. - T tries to elicit the idea of verb combinations and the difference between infinitives and gerunds through a football teams analogy between slides 1-10.
- T opens slide 11 (exercise 4) and asks students to note down verb to verb combinations. - T sends Ss into breakout rooms in pairs. - When Ss are back, T asks them to give the answers.
- T opens slide 12 and 13 to introduce the idea of verb combinations. - T opens slide 14 and shows exercise 4B. - T asks students to put the verbs into two groups. - T draws attention to the fact that one group takes -ing and the other uses 'to+infinitive'
- T opens slide 16. - T explains that each sentence has three possible verbs but one of them does not fit into the sentence. -T tells Ss to try and guess which one is wrong. - T sends them into breakout rooms and gives them 5 minutes. -T after the breakout rooms, T opens slide 17 to show example sentences. - T asks students to answer each question according to the example sentences.
- T opens slide 18 and asks students to answer fill in the gaps in pairs. - T sends them into breakout rooms for 4 minutes. - When they come back, T asks them to give the answers.
- T opens slide 19. - T asks Ss to share their travel experience by using the forms in the activity. - T sends them into breakout rooms and gives them 6 minutes. - After they come back, T asks two of the students to share their partner's experience.
