Procedure (34-46 minutes)
Link the lesson to the previous one. Setup a memory game for the students to allow them to become engaged with the material and make it more interesting.
Give the students a handout from ex.1 pg. 22 of the New Cutting Edge Student's book to complete on their own. The exercise involves crossing out the phrase that does not fit with the target language verbs. Monitor the students for difficulties with the material so you know what to focus on during the MPF.
MPF: give the students the definition, how to say it and then the form. Elicit past tense forms from them. Look at my LAS
Students will perform a worksheet taken from pg. 21 of the New Cutting Edge Workbook consisting of fill in the blank using the target language that was covered during the MPF.
Model the activity with another student and then ask ICQs before beginning. Have the students check their answers in pairs for 3-4 minutes by asking each other the questions from the worksheet and eliciting responses from another another. Walk around and monitor to gather feedback and try to gather 2 or 3 sentences that the students are having difficulty with so that you can write them on the board.
