Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson students will be able to read texts about film stories in the context of travel.

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of the lesson students will be able to orally discuss the film stories in the context of travel.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- T greets students and shows a photo about travelling with some prompts to help students express their own experience with travelling. - T expresses his own experience to give the students a model for the expected answers. - T encourages students to talk about their own experience with travelling to get them engaged in the topic.

Pre-Reading/Listening (5-6 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-T starts showing some photos for the lexis that he anticipated that they may block the students understanding while reading the text . - T elicits the words as possible as he can after showing the photo , explains the definition , models the pronunciation and drill it. - T asks some CCQs about the meaning of some lexis to check understanding. - T asks students to match each word with its definition and then shows the task and gives them 2 minutes to do it . - T elicits the answers from the students and gives feedback. - T shows the students three photos for the three films that the lessons' reading texts are about. - T elicits the answers of the prediction questions from students .

While-Reading/Listening #1 (2-3 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

- T asks students to match the photos of the films with the text that contains the original story of each film. - T explains that there's no need to the read the whole text in details but just get the general idea. - T divides students into pairs and asks some ICQs and sends the link of the skimming reading to the students. - T sends the students to BORs and monitors them for 2 minutes and monitors them. - T elicits the answers from the students and gives feedback.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

- T explains the task to the students that they have to answer three questions for each text and that they have to read in details to get the answer. - T names students for each group and explains that each group will read only one text and sends the links for the groups on the chat box. - T sends the students to the BORs for 8 minutes and monitors them well. - T elicits the answers of the questions for each text and checks understanding.

Post-Reading/Listening (12-13 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

- T explains the task to the students that each student has to tell the others in the other groups in the BORs the story of the film based on his text . - T send students to BORs for ten minutes ,but he should be careful not to send the same students to the same groups but each new group must have students from the three previous groups in the previous task. - T monitors students in the BORs and writes down the mistakes that students make while summarizing their the stories in the texts. - T gives feedback on the content , if possible , then feedback on the language through giving students some correct and incorrect sentences that contain their mistakes and asks them to find the correct ones.
