Description
In this lesson: Ss will have a warm-up about can, can't, mustn't, must and have to. To prepare them for the structure, I will elicit can, can't, mustn't, must and have to. The lesson starts with (CCQs). This is followed by fill in gaps questions and a listening question. For free practice, Ss will practice speaking through making sentences by using the structure. The last would be a feedback.

Main Aims

Procedure (34-48 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
-T greets Ss and shows Ss a picture about the structure.
-Ss are given three minutes to discuss the picture.
- T elicits from the answers that Ss have an idea about the topic.
Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text
-T gives Ss a text that has the rules to make underline words.
-T elicits the answers from the students.
-T asks students to repeat the chosen words.
Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language
T asks Ss (CCQs).
T elicits the answers from Ss.
Clarification (5-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language
T elicits the answers from Ss through two sentences to say they have the same meaning or no.
Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice
T asks Ss to answer the question about fill in the gaps.
Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice
T asks Ss to complete the sentences by their own words using the same structure.
Free Practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language
