To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a discussion in the context of work and companies
Procedure (38-53 minutes)
Show SS a picture and let them discuss it with the T and other students. Where you think they are. What are they doing? what sort of a company is it?
- T will start by presenting a reading text and ask ss to read it - Ss will be asked to suggest a title for this text
- Ss will be asked to underline companies -related words ( related to work) in groups - T will show SS the underlined words
- T will discuss with SS the TL of the lesson - SS will first try to guess the meaning using the definition and the picture. - T will try to elicit the word - T will clarify ( MFP) through CCQs and drilling and displaying - SS will listen to the vocabulary
- Ss will work individually first on matching questions - ICQs will be used for clear instruction - they will be in groups to check their answers with peers - T will provide feedback and error correction
- SS will work in pairs to fill in the gaps without choices - SS will use their memory to fill in the gaps using the words learned - T will provide feedback and mention some errors - T will focus on the register - ICQs will be used if needed
- Ss will work in groups to discuss their work - Ss will use the words in their discussion - T will give some guiding words - T will provide feedback and highlight some errors
