Description

In this lesson, students will learn phrases related to the word "look" in the theme of famous people

Main Aims

To allow students to practice and revise collocations with the word "look"

Subsidiary Aims

To provide clarification of the collocations of "look"
To provide fluency speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of Famous people

Procedure (33-37 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will show Ss Google Jamboard with photos of famous people. T will ask Ss to think about any famous person. Then T will ask Ss to describe that person

Exposure (6-6 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T will share link to a Google Document page which will contain a conversation between two people followed by two friends talking about a concert. Ss will first read individually then be placed in BORs to discuss answers with their peers. Ss will return to main Zoom room to discuss the answers

Clarification (10-12 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T shares screen to show Google form. T will say to Ss. "You will be working with a partner in breakout rooms. T tells Ss "You are to find the correct meaning of "look" in the following sentences. Ss will be checking for meaning and form. (6 min pair work) T will have Ss repeat the look collocations to know pronunciation (3) Ss will return to main zoom room to discuss their answers. (2 min) T T will ask students "If

Controlled Practice (8-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

S will share link to Google Form. Ss will have to fill in the blank utilizing collocations given. T will go over the first phrase with the class. Ss will work individually (4 mins) Ss will be placed in BORs to discuss answers (2 mins) Ss will return to main zoom room and T will ask Ss to share answers from their group. (1min)

Free Practice (7-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T will share link to Google Form, Ss will see a chart with 5 collocations to choose and place in the given sentences. Ss will be placed in BORs to create their answers. (5) T will ask Ss to review answers (2 min)
