Procedure (34-46 minutes)
"T asks students to discuss in breakout rooms about their favorite food and favorite restaurant” “You are going to talk about your favorite food and your favourite restaurant IN BREAKOUT ROOMS. ” Learners work in pairs in breakout rooms and discuss. T. Does an OCFB
"Individually students will watch a video about 3 people ordering food in a restaurant . Then they have to answer some general questions. Instructions: Watch the video and in pairs discuss in breakout rooms some questions . I'll send them to you in the chat box. T conducts OCFB
"Teacher will work on the MEANING by working on a jam board form related to the listening . Students have to the correct option on the meaning of asking and requesting language, the use of "Would you like---/Can I have..../ I'd like.... INSTRUCTIONS: put the sticky notes in the gaps. Send your answers in chat. T conducts OCFB and also explains the importance of APPROPRIACY of using offers and requests to be polite and in a formal situation. Then teacher gives help for problems and asks CCQs. Do we say “I’D LIKE A BURGER” to request something to eat in a restaurant? Do we use question tag to add a negative sentence? Do we say “WATER PLEASE” if we have to request for some water in the restaurant. What do we say instead? Do we say “WOULD YOU LIKE A COFFEE?” to offer a coffe to a friend? Do we say “I LIKE BURGER” to request a burger in a restaurant? Teacher will work on the FORM of Target language. Students have to complete the form of the Would you like +..... Can I + .....I'd like+....... They have to choose between infinitive with to and noun. INSTRUCTIONS: PUT THE ORANGE STICKY NOTES AFTER THE BLUE STICKY NOTES TO COMPLETE THE SENTENCES T conducts OCFB and he clarifies F for problematic items and asks the following CCQs. After “WOULD YOU LIKE + …..? Do we put the infinitive with to? After “ CAN I + ….? Do we put the infinitive with to? After “I’D LIKE +.... ” do we put a noun? After “WOULD YOU LIKE +...? can we put a noun? Then T will work on the PRONUNCIATION. Students have to choose the correct option. The teachers reads the sentences twice and students decide which is the correct one between option 1 and 2. T underlines the importance of the stress and intonation that rises on the word PLEASE and then asks to repeat chorally and then individually. T conducts OCFB and he clarifies P for problematic items.
"T asks students to read a conversation between two people and a waitress and complete the gaps with offers and requests TL (Would you like..../Can I-we have..../ I'd like) Instruction: read the conversation and choose the correct option. Learners read the questions and answers in pairs in breakout rooms. T conducts OCFB
Instruction: we are going to have a role-play. One student is the waiter, two students are clients at the restaurant. You have to order food so act with the other student who is the waiter. Demo the task Learners work in breakout rooms and discuss. Then I'll close the breakout rooms and I ll tell them to swap roles.
I will write on the board 3 examples of good language and 3 examples of errors to correct. Then I will ask individually something related to the TL to use correctly the language seen in the feedback.
