Procedure (35-45 minutes)
T and SS introduce themselves and T briefly goes over the class rules T asks SS the following questions about Job hunting. T tells SS to ask and answers questions about job-hunting. What is your dream job? What kind of benefits would you like to have in your dream job? Would you like to work in a multifunctional company?
T tell SS to work in pairs. Cover the article. Then guess the answers to these questions. 1) Look at the photos and read the letters. Why is Bonnie unemployed? Why is Harry unemployed? Read the letters again. Tick the true sentences. Activities at the moment of speaking. Future plans or arrangements. How do we form the present continuous? Subject: Affirmative Negative: Question I I am playing.. I am not playing. Am I playing? you,they,we, You are playing. You are not playing. Are you playing? he,she,it He is playing He is not playing. Is he playing? We do not normally use the continuous with stative verbs. Stative verbs include: verbs of thinking and feeling:believe,love,understand verbs of the senses:appear,smell,taste I understand you. (NOT I am understanding you.) This cake tastes wonderful. (NOT This cake is tasting wonderful.) Present Simple she needs a real job. When do we use present simple? It is used to describe habits, unchanging situations, general truths, and fixed arrangements. To give instructions or directions To express fixed arrangements, present or future How do we form the present continuous? Subject: Affirmative Negative Question I, I am I am not Am I He,she,it He is He is not Is he We,you,they You are We are not Are we We often use adverbs of frequency like sometimes, always and never with the We use do and does to make negatives with the present simple. We use doesn't for the third-person singular (she/he/it) and don't for the others. With the third-person singular (she/he/it), we add an –s There are also few verbs which are irregular in the present simple: 'have' becomes 'has' 'do' becomes 'does' 'go' becomes 'goes'
T tell SS to put the verbs in Harry’s email in the Present Continuous or Present Simple. Where is he working now? T tell SS to do this individually and then check in pairs (via private messages).
