To provide review and practice of second conditional in the context of crime witness. What would you do situation.
Procedure (37-46 minutes)
-T greets the Ss and introduces the game (Guess who?) -T goes first (kidnapping) -Ss ask yes or no Qs. -T gives each S a crime (other Ss turn away) -Ss try and guess each crime.
-T starts by telling them a short story about a "mugging" -T asks students question (what would you have done if you witnessed mugging? -T make sure they use… I would … structure. -S make a brief comment -T uses white board to write the Q and Answer. -T explains the second conditional on WB -T briefly adds quantifiers when commenting about other peoples opinions .
- Ss will be given the activity questions (from the student book) -One s must take notes for answerrs of Ss. -T uses ICQ for clarification - Ss in to pairs and discuss answers for peer checking. -Feed back will be given as a class. -semi-controlled -T monitoring during break out rooms.
-Ss will try to evaluate the opinions of their group. They will all have the chance to comment on 2 examples each. -T elicits quantifiers. most of us, none of us etc. -Ss can use sentences like; Most of us would…. We’d all… none of us would… I would…. -T feed back on comments
Ss could have a quick discussion about which group's answers were surprising/predictable?
