upper-intermediate level
Description
Main Aims

Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of witness
Procedure (43-58 minutes)
SS will be shown a video which the T will pause it many times to clarify important points and elicit the difference between ing-form and infinitive from the students while watching the video and ask the students to write down some notes
SS will be shown an explanation of the main points of the lesson through an explanation which will be as discussion T ss what is the difference in meaning when we use ing-form or infinitive (elicitation) e.g. do you remember seeing a video of the bus exploding? here I will ask the students to explain the difference in meaning ( the ability to remember seeing the video of the bus exploding ) but in the other example we forget to send a birthday card on time : it is our responsibility to send the card on time but we forget to send and I haven't sent it yet
the productive skill of the target language is speaking. so the students will be asked to discuss in pairs two examples of the same verb and find the difference in meaning and form of ing and infinitive use CCQs to confirm their understanding of the meaning e.g. I forgot cooking pizza ( he has no memory on how to cook pizza) I forgot to cook pizza ( it is my responsibility to cook the pizza but I didn't) CCQs: did he cook the pizza ? no
The students will be working on Kahoot individually and the will get instant feedback ( semi-controlled practice ) after they finish T will discuss some important points https://play.kahoot.it/v2/lobby?quizId=292adcf8-8b1c-4f84-830f-9cf72154b902
The students will be given time to report how they did the practice in the previous stage. So , they can differentiate between using ing-form and infinitive e.g. forget doing is related to the memory and forget to do is related to responsibility
after the previous stages we can summarize what we have studied about ing-form and infinitive meaning and form and pronunciation with providing examples and elicitation from the students give example and clarify the meaning , form and pronunciation
At this stage ss will work in groups on question 3 C on page 105 ( each group will do two questions ) and discuss their answers with the T for feedback
