To provide clarification and practice of verb + ing patterns in the context of codes of conduct.
Subsidiary Aims

To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about how the English appear to other cultures in the context of English social codes

To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of personal reactions to certain social situations.
Procedure (44-55 minutes)
- T shares screen with a Jamboard with the following qs: How do people from other cultures see Russian people? - Ss discuss their ideas in pairs. T monitors (3 min) - T comments or asks qs on what was listened to while monitoring (1 min)
-T. shares a link to a Google Form in which Ss must complete using the correct form of the verb - Ss answer the task individually and then compare their answers while T monitors
- T addresses the problems noticed during answers comparison from Test 1 (elicit answers from Ss and give FB on mistakes) - MFP should be covered appropriately
- T shares Test 2 on-screen using Google Jamboard - Ss answer Test 2 (which will be taken from the coursebook used for this lesson): match the uses of verb + ing using phrases from the reading - Ss compare their answers - OCFB - Ss correct their mistakes on Test 1, T monitors - OCFB if needed
- Ss practise speaking using verb + ing completing certain phrases given. T monitors - Ss practise speaking sharing ideas on tips about social codes they'd share with a tourist who visits their country. T monitors - DEC
