Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shares screen with Ss on Zoom, showing the LEAD-IN TASK, Google Jamboard “What do you do when someone gives you something you don't like?” T instructs Ss to discuss the question in pairs (breakout rooms) [2 min]. T shares screen with Ss with LEAD-IN TASK. T models response using a sticky note. T shares the link to the Google Jamboard in the chat and instructs Ss to each post their own. T conducts OCFB on the task. Allow 1-2 volunteers to answer and/or nominate 1-2 Ss.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T instructs Ss to listen to the text and to think about the question to get the general idea of the text. T plays NCE CD Module 9 Recording 10 for Ss. [5 min] T models sample answer. T instructs Ss to compare answers in pairs (breakout rooms). [2 min] T conducts OCFB on the task. T elicits Ss to answer what all of the speakers have in common. Allow 1-2 volunteers to answer and/or nominate 1-2 Ss. [2 min]

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T shares screen with Ss on Zoom, showing Google Slides Presentation. T clarifies meaning by eliciting: "These types of words both describe: __________" Ss respond. T writes out MEANING of language. T clarifies meaning / form by eliciting: "Do they mean the same thing? Do they have different forms?" Ss respond. T writes out responses. T clarifies form by eliciting: "Which act like nouns (subjects/objects) and which act like verbs (actions)? " Ss respond. T writes out forms on slide. T continues to clarify form by eliciting word class. Ss respond. T writes out forms on slide. T clarifies pronunication by asking Ss to listen to T saying TL aloud, then elicit: "When we say each sentence out loud, which words do we stress?" Ss respond. T highlights stress in BOLD. Ask Ss to repeat TL.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T shares screen with Ss on Zoom, Google Slide 4, used for FREER PRACTICE STAGE TASK, a speaking practice task. T instructs Ss to use TL to have a conversation in pairs about what's wrong with something (breakout rooms). T monitors for use of TL and notes any errors. [5 min] T conducts OCFB & DEC on the task. Allow 1-2 volunteers to answer and/or nominate 1-2 students.
