Subsidiary Aims
-

Procedure (21-54 minutes)
The teacher will show a picture of limousine and will ask the students about it. The questions could be: -Who does ride limousine? -Do you like limousine? -Have you ridden a limousine before? -How does it look from the inside?
The teacher will ask students to quickly read 'The Hardship of Limousine Drivers' then he will instruct them to suggest another title to the passage.
The teacher then will instruct the students to read the passage again and answer the questions about the passage. This stage could be done as a pair or group work.
The teacher will show activities that will clarify the language points. Teacher will guide students towards understanding the new language point by providing sample sentences that are taken from the reading passage and asking some questions about them. In this stage some pair work or group work can be done.
The teacher will instruct students to do the first exercise and fill in the gaps to complete the passive sentences correctly. This also can be done as a pair work or group work. After that feedback can be taken or it can be done together with the whole class.
The teacher will instruct students to convert some active sentences to passive sentences. This activity can also be done individually, pair work, or group work. Feedback can be taken after students finish the activity or it can be done together.
If there is any time left, the teacher can do this activity. The teacher will ask students to categorize certain jobs by how much salary each job gets in their country. A follow up discussion can be done after categorizing and questions can be asked such as -Why do you think this job gets this amount? -Do you think it is fair for this job to get this amount? -What do you think are the standards that everyone should consider to determine the salaries of jobs?
