By the end of this lesson, students will have clarifiied, reviewed and practiced language used for asking and giving directions in the context of using a map from the coursebook
Subsidiary Aims

To enable students to practise their fluency and speaking skills and extend their lexical range using language used to ask and give directions.
Procedure (39-52 minutes)
Present Google Slide 1 and elicit the names of the places (pharmacy, pub, park) and some incidental vocab (bridge, river, etc) and ask Ss to name places near where they live (without writing them down) in pairs/groups in breakout rooms for one to two minutes. Monitor Ss in BR and note some interesting vocab then conduct a quick OCFB (2 mins/2-3 Ss max). ICQs: Do you have 2 minutes or 3 minutes? 2 minutes Do you write it down or talk about it? Talk about it.
1. Gist Task Enter link for Google Forms multiple choice questions in the chat box. Ss individually look through the questions (1 min) and then play audio 1 to the class in MR (Main room). After checking Ss have finished the questions for audio 1, play audio 2 then 3. Play audio again if needed, but no more than twice. Quick OCFB following completion of task. Instruction to Ss: 1. Please open the link in the chat box. 2. Read the questions for 1 minute. (ICQ: Do you 2 or 1 minute? 1 minute 3. Lets listen to audio 1 and answer audio 1 questions. 3. Lets listen to audio 2 and answer audio 2 questions; same for audio 3 2. Intensive Task Enter link for the next Google Forms multiple choice questions in the chat box. I will cover meaning and form by using the Google Slide 4. We will read this as a class and I will clarify the meaning using CCQ's. I.e. “Is there a newsagents far from here?” No . I will cover form using Google Slide 5. We will read this as a class ans clarify the from using CCQ's I.e Can we say where’s a café? No I will present and drill the pronunciation on the next side using stress marks on the syllables.
Fill in the gaps on Google Forms (5 mins) and then check with a partner (2 mins) followed by quick OCFB.
Students ask and answer questions using the TL the map on a Google Slide, followed by OCFB.
