Procedure (82-125 minutes)
T presents an image of one member of her family and describes them. (e.g. "This is my sister. She's very loving. She is a veterinarian and takes care of a lot of animals like dogs, birds and cats..." Follow-up questions: "What characteristics do you think I admire about my sister?" "Do you have someone you admire in your family?" --Ss work in pairs and reorder a set of four questions about people in their families they admire. -Questions (answer key): "What do you like about him/her?" / "What is her/his biggest talent?" / "What is he/she known for?" / "What do you think about him/her?" -T conducts OCFB after pair work (reordered questions are displayed)
1. T asks students to prepare some questions (at least two) they would like to ask to one of their partners in order to know the person they admire. T modells some examples before Ss work individually in their questions. Instructions: "Prepare at least two questions you would like to ask to one of your partners about the person they admire." Example: "What do you like about this person?" / "Why do you admire about him / her?" 2. T asks Ss to add more phrases or words that express admiration (3 mins) (T modells some examples and asks Ss to complete orally: "I really love when he/she_______"; "She / He is very____" ; "He / she is always____") Instructions "Add phrases you would use to describe that special person in your family"
-T asks Ss to work in pairs and ask each other the questions they have prepared. Ss use the phrases collected in the online document to express admiration in their responses. T asks students to do this activity twice with different partners. T asks some Ss to report what their partners had said about the person their admire.
-T collects some examples from Ss production an writes them in the online file. Ss clap if they believe each example is right or say "boo" if they believe the example is incorrect. - (T modells the task first). - T asks Ss to detect and correct the error in the incorrect sentences.
