Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (0-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Exposure (0-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T shows an old photo of herself (on slide 3) and elicits the word "past". T shows four more photos and asks some questions about them. e.g. "What's my job? / Now, I'm a teacher. Was I a teacher here? (No.) Yes! I wasn't a teacher. I was a student."

Highlighting (0-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T shows slide 8 and drills the sentences. T asks Ss following CCQs: - Are those words situations or action words? (situations) - Are those situations in the present? (no) - Are those situations in the past? (yes)

T gives Ss one minute to complete the chart (on slide 9). T checks answers, models and drills pronunciation.

Controlled Practice (0-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T wants Ss to focus on the example sentence. then, T gives the instructions and asks some ICQs. Ss rewrite the sentences on their own in three minutes and check in pairs in 2 mins. T presents the answer key. The same process is repeated for the next exercise.

Free Practice (0-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T shows some other selfies on her phone and points out the two possible answers, "Yes" and "No". T puts Ss in pairs in BoRs and gets them to ask each other the questions. In BoRs, T monitors and encourages Ss to to take their phones out and show their partner some of their selfies or other photos. T gets some feedback from various pairs
