To provide listening and speaking practice to further develop fluency by describing their idea of the perfect bag.
Procedure (35-43 minutes)
Share Jamboard link. Instruct students to add words to describe the purse. (1 minute) As a group, we will go over the words they put on the board, I'll add any adjectives from the lesson that I don't see on the board. (2 minutes)
Share the screen for the short text. Students will read the text and underline any adjectives they see. (3 minutes) Breakout rooms to check answers. Main room to discuss as a class.
Elicit language and explain. 1. Antique. According to the conversation, is Sarah's purse new or old? What kind of word is 'antique' (write adjective and noun on jamboard) pronunciation: an-TEEK. stress: oO. syllables: 2. 2. Brand New pronunciation: brand nu. stress: O o. syllables: 2 words, 1 syllable each. 3. Thrifty pronunciation: thrif-tee. stress: Oo. syllables: 2. 4. Students complete google form Instruct students to select the answer that does not belong in the sentence. (6 minutes) Group check (3 minutes)
In break out rooms, students pair up to describe an item in their house that uses one of the adjectives. Partners have to guess what item they are describing. (6 minutes). Instruct them to write down the answers they guessed. Ex: I have a heavy, brand new object that provides light when i turn it on.
Share screen. Write selected sentences of students' errors. Have students make corrections.
