To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a text about adventures series in the context of modern adventures
Procedure (35-45 minutes)
1.T will show Ss a picture of a famous Egyptian adventurer and ask: do you know him? do you know what he achieved? 2.T will show Ss pictures of different adventurous activities and ask Ss to discuss in pairs "which of these activities would you like try and why?" 3.T will ask for content feedback.
1.T will pre-teach the word "expedition" using a context. 2.T will set the task for the listening and ask Ss to listen for the main idea. 3.T will do some nominated feedback. 4.T will ask Ss to listen again and answer three questions on the listening exercise sheet. 5.Ss will check their answers in pairs. 6.T will do some nominated feedback.
1.T will ask Ss some CCQs about the marker sentences elicited from the listening exercise such as: Are these two actions in the present or past? Did they happen at the same time? Did one action happen before the other? Which action happend first? 2.T will do some modelling and drill the marker sentences. 3.T will write the marker sentences on w/b. 4.T will ask Ss to elicit the form and stick it with some colourful paper on w/b.
1.T will chest the controlled practice exercise handout and provide some instructions for the controlled practice. 2.T will monitor and see if there were any hard questions. 3.Ss will check their answers in pairs. 4.T will provide an answer key.
1.T will provide Ss with a model answer for the freer practice that includes the TL. 2.T will ask Ss to discuss in pairs the most adventurous activity they have had before, when and where was it. 3.T will monitor Ss while speaking to check if there were any hard words and provide help when necessary. 4.T will ask Ss some questions for content feedback. 5.T will write some mistakes on w/b and ask Ss to correct them for linguistic feedback.
