Main Aims

To provide clarification and practice of the past form of verb to be "was" and "were" in the context of famous historic figures
Subsidiary Aims

To provide scan reading practice using a text about "who were they?" in the context of famous historic figures
Procedure (37-51 minutes)
T will show Ss a picture on the screen and ask questions such as "do you know any of these people?" trying to elicit the word "history", then T will show Ss other pictures of national famous historic figures and ask questions about them
T will ask Ss to individually read a radio interview script about El-Sadat and complete the gaps, then T will ask Ss to check their answers in pairs and finally give them WC feedback by showing the correct answers on the screen.
T will ask Ss to give him sentences that express a past action trying to elicit the marker sentences.
T will ask Ss some CCQs such as " is this in the past or present?", drill the marker sentences highlighting the weak forms of "was" and "were" and then write the marker sentences and form on board.
T will show Ss some pictures trying to elicit, ask some CCQs if needed, drill and write them on board.
T will ask Ss to read the text and complete the gaps individually, then Ss will check in pairs. T will ask Ss to come at the board to choose the correct answers and provide feedback for the first part. T will ask Ss to complete the rest of the gaps, check answers in pairs and provide feedback on the screen.
T will divide Ss into groups of three and ask each group to match the pictures with basic info about each figure and then make sentences about each figure using "was" and "were" to tell others about this figure
