Procedure (39-49 minutes)
Quick review of previous lesson. Lead in by: Are there things that you have done perhaps in the past.. And would like to change? What about things that you have regretted doing or not doing?
-For Ss to understand era (Key vocabulary) -T will elicit examples of target language to check their former knowledge. -Ss will work on 3A, in pairs. -First one will be done as a demonstration.
In the present: 1.Wish/if only + past simple OR Wish/if only + could In the past: 2. Wish/if only + past perfect Expressing annoyance: 3. Wish/if only + would
-T will explain the target language, in more details. -T will check with CCQs, if they have understood the TL -T will drill the pronunciation. -And explain what is the difference in their meaning.(I wish & If only) -Ss will practice an activity, to make sure they have understood. CCQs: I wish I spoke French -Is this in that past or present?No present -Can I speak the L? No -Do I want to learn the language? Yes If only I’d set the alarm at 8a.m. -Is she pleased with time she woke up? No -Does she regret not putting the alarm for 8a.m.? Yes -Has it already happened in a certain in the past? Yes -Ss will do another activity
-Ss will work in pairs, to find the correct meaning of the sentence. -First one will be done together. -Feedback in main session
Ss will look at activity 4A & work in pairs. -Ss will find the sentences true to them & change the rest of them to become true.
Ss will work in pairs to share their wishes/regrets, by looking at pictures on the slide as an input... Or they can come up with their own thoughts to use the TL.
