Description

In this lesson , the students are supposed to identify the difference between there is/are and how to make contractions also the students are supposed to practice on making questions and negatives forms. activities will based on semi controlled and control practice which ease the lesson and involve the students in the lesson.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of there is/are in the context of travel to different cities

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of language used for descibtion in the context of what you can find in different places like Eyeries,and keswick
  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about different cities in the context of travel to different cities

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I am going to ask the students different questions about Istanbul using Is there ....? and Are there....? and write their answers on the board.

Highlighting (5-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I am going to highlight the target language and underline the students answers about Istanbul and elicit the main aim of the lesson by involving them to get the form.

Clarification (7-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

The students are supposed to identify the target language we use so I am going to put the form and clarify when we use is /are.beside I am going to elicit the pronunciation of (there's and there are). Then I am going to elicit the negative case and how to make a questions to ask for descriptions.

Semi-Controlled Practice (7-9 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

I am going to check if the students comprehend the target language and how to use affirmative and negative cases through a semi controlled (practice ex 8) and I will get a feedback to check their answers through a whole discussion feedback and clarify how we pronounce there's and there are .

Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I am going to play the sound recorder to involve the students to practice listening and complete the questions that is in ex9a) then I am going to ask them to answer these questions according to their cities as an individual work.

free practice (6-8 minutes) • The students are supposed to practice on producing the target language that they learned.

The students are supposed to work in pairs and take turns to ask and answer the questions in 9a) and put yes or no in the my partner column. and I am going to monitor the students to make sure they are on task and provide them with clarification that they may need
